Throwing Art: From old musty basement to inspiring functional studio
Watch as I transform my home's 1952 basement into a working clay studio. The transformation of the space symbolizes my own progress from student to artist. I'll use this space to create a mix of functional pottery, sculpture, and paintings as I pursue my MFA in Ceramics.
I am an art teacher in a rural elementary school. While I love to paint, my passion is working with clay. My interests in ceramics include functional pottery that has a special or ceremonial purpose (Japanese tea sets, the morning ritual of coffee in a unique mug.) I also am beginning work with both wall-hanging and three-dimensional ceramic sculpture.
